It is 3037 and the world has changed. Ravaged by a series of disasters both natural and man made the planet Earth has been razed and reborn into a wild and dangerous place. Civilization has been pushed back to only a few remaining strongholds while nature retakes what was lost.
One such stronghold is the megacity is Vex 8-9. A congested and bustling metropolis where the rich control the city and the poor vie for scraps. Because after all, somethings never change. Here humanity struggles to survive as creatures once thought only to be myth have emerged from the shadows to take their place among society again. Vampires, werewolves, mermaids, monsters. Humanities only chance to thrive lies in technology. The drug Mutagen, a highly controversial substance, can change a human based on their genetic code granting them incredible superhuman abilities. Couple that with the advanced weapons and cybernetic augmentations humans have developed and they can stand on equal footing with nearly any supernatural.
All do their best to live as well as they can by whatever means necessary but some must wonder whether they stand a better chance in the city, or beyond the wall at the mercy of the wilds.
Vex 8-9
Vex 8-9 is a sprawling metropolis surrounded on all but one side by a wall of steel 100 meters tall. The only open side faces the last ocean and is the only means of travel to the other cities. Within the wall, the city is protected from outside threats but inside danger is still ever present. The Tower Council who control the city, while consisting of members from every race, rarely use their authority for the betterment of all. Instead the lower class are left to rot while the working class break their backs to further line the pockets of the rich. There are always credits to be made. Some have learned how to manipulate the system and some seek to bring it down all together. Despite all this only a rare few dare venture outside the wall to try their luck with nature.
The Wilds
Outside the protective walls the world is deadly to most races. Only the strongest of individuals and those closest to nature stand any chance of surviving past the first few days beyond the wall. Wanderers they call themselves or so it's been said. Forests have taken over and destroyed the old cities. Where oceans once spread far and wide vast deserts now stretch to the horizon. All manner of flora and fauna both deadly and benign are found everywhere in the near alien landscape. There is a rumor that a few settlers from the cities founded a new home somewhere in the wilderness. But rumors are rarely true and without solid evidence few dare to even hope for such a possibility.
